The 9th International Conference on Signal Image Technology & Internet Systems

The 9th International Conference on Signal Image Technology

Workshop on Image/video based Interactive Systems and Environment (IVISE 2013)

International workshop co-located with:
SITIS 2013, Kyoto, Japan, December 2-5, 2013

Scope of the workshop
Studies in multimedia systems opened up possibilities to handle image, video, and/or audio data with more freedom and flexibility. Offering intuitive and more effective multimedia data handling environment especially for non-expert users of computer systems is one of the urgent issue to catch up the progress of rich hardware environment for image/video data. Recent progress of devices such as small high resolution LCD display with tough panel, depth image sensors, and so on, enabled to interact with a system in more intuitive way, and low-power high performance processors enabled to handle video data even for mobile devices such as smart phones. It is clear that the acceptance of a system by general users largely depends on the usability of a system. One of the solutions for this issue is to improve intuitiveness with the aid of image/video data. In this workshop we put more focus on the aspect of interaction with the aid of image/video data for the better usability and more intuitiveness of systems. In this workshop, we would like to discuss not only theoretical issues but also typical applications and environments which focus on better utilization of image/video data.

Topics of interest
Topics of interest of this workshop are as follows but not limited to:

  • Advanced user interfaces utilizing image/video
  • Image/video mediated user behavior analysis
  • Applications based on user preference acquisition
  • Interactive image/video access environment
  • Content-based image/video access interface
  • Image/video authoring environment
  • Semantic analysis for surveillance video
  • Applications and devices for AR
  • Interactive digital signage and its applications
  • DRM and security for/by image/video
  • Image/Video coding for interactive applications
  • Applications and environment for digital home

Important Dates
Submission deadline: September 23, 2013
Acceptance/Reject notification: October 19, 2013
Camera-ready: October 27, 2013
Author Registration: October 27, 2013

Submission Guidelines
All submissions should be in IEEE conference style and PDF format. Papers may not exceed 8 pages. Two extra pages can be purchased. Paper submission will only be online via: Easy Chair ( )
The online system will be used to handle and process all papers and to prepare for the final proceedings. All submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression by at least two reviewers. The organizers will examine the reviews and make final paper selections. More details about the submission process can be found on the conference website.

Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and published by IEEE Computer Society and referenced in IEEE explore and major indexes. The proceedings will be available at the conference. Extended version of selected accepted papers will be considered for publication in major journals.

At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the workshop. Registration must be done on the SITIS website at the time when the author sends the camera-ready copy of the accepted paper to the workshop chair. Workshop registration fee is determined by SITIS. A single registration for the workshop or the conference allows to attend both events.
